Igor Cherevchenko: "We lost concentration in the last seconds".

Igor Cherevchenko: perso la concentrazione negli ultimi secondi

Igor Cherevchenko in the post-game press-conference spoke about the game against Dinamo (2:2), resuming it.

- We suffered a goal on a corner in the last seconds. We lost concentration. Corners are essential in modern football. After a bad first half, we changed the game, scoring two goals.

- What did happen to Tarasov?
- He got injured. We decided to replace him with Aleksey Miranchuk, moving Kolomeytsev on his place.

- Did the arrival of Gabulov confuse you?
- No, we don't mark one's man.

- Kasaev hasn't recently been included in the starting line-up.
- He got injured and now he's recovering the form. The training and the rhythm in a match are two different things. We've still got two games to go, everything will be good.

Dinamo - Lokomotiv 2:2.

Ничья на последних секундах

Lokomotiv drew against Dinamo in the 17th round of the Russian Premier League.

Compared to the game against Sporting, Cherevchenko decided to make some changes. Mykhalyk was confirmed as central defender together with Corluka, while Yanbaev took the place of Shishkin

The match started on slow rhythms and was characterized by many fights in the midfield. 'Railroaders' relied only on Niasse, while Dinamo preferred to play on counterattacks. The home side took the lead after 35 mins with Dyakov, who scored with a penalty earned by Ionov

Lokomotiv had immediately got a reaction, but neither N'Dinga nor Samedov were able to create dangerous chances to Gabulov.

In the second half, the Cherevchenko's XI equalized the score after just 4 mins. Niasse made a good assist for Samedov, whose shot finished in the corner. The game became so more interesting and 'Railroaders' were the most dangerous team on the field.

Although Maicon hit the bar with an header, the same Brazilian striker let Lokomotiv to overcome Dinamo taking advantage again from a Niasse's assist - 1:2.

In the final seconds of the game, Dinamo equalized the score with Dyakov, who made his own double. Lokomotiv didn't took advantage from the opponents' results. Again.

What does the defeat against Sporting mean? In my opinion, Lokomotiv has entered in a small crisis that has already influenced the recent performance. The 'Railroaders' have won only 1 of the last 8 matches, including the ones in Russian Cup and Europa League. The tomorrow's game against Dinamo shouldn't be the exception. The Kobelev's XI is a very tough squad and historically Dinamo has often made in trouble Lokomotiv.

Despite having suffered 4 goals, Guilherme should be confirmed by Cherevchenko in the starting line-up. The new Russian goalkeeper is without a doubt one of the less guilties for the defeat against Sporting. Corluka should return in the line-up, replacing Mykhalyk, as well as Kolomeytsev. Fernandes could be confirmed as he played one of the best matches ever in Lokomotiv on Thursday. Kasaev is still not ready to play a whole game, so Maicon should start again. Although Niasse hasn't scored since the away match against Besiktas, he's the best striker in the team and he needs more confidence to return on his levels, so we should trust in him.

Kobelev hasn't got too many problems to make up the formation. Denisov is the only doubtful player. He had got and argument with the same Kobelev, who has recently said that he still doesn't know whether the Russian midfielder can take part in the next games or not. This is not the first problem that Denisov caused in Dinamo and therefore he should leave the white-blues in the next transfers window. We expect him to return to Zenit, however Lokomotiv could certainly be one of the clubs interested in him. Kokorin, instead, should recover for the game and should also couple with Pogrebnyak in the Dinamo's offensive line. The only injured player is the young defender Danilkin. Both Samba and Buttner are training with the reserves team as Kobelev doesn't rely on them.

Dinamo is a very tough team. Players such as Morozov, Zobnin and Tashaev are really talented and despite their young age, they can already make the difference with their skills. A snowfall is expected in Moscow and it'll certainly influence the game. However, considering the Zenit's defeat in Groznyi and the CSKA's draw in Makhachkala, Lokomotiv has got another big opportunity tomorrow. Could they finally manage to take advantage from the opponents' results?

The Cherkizovo Report: Sporting 4 Lokomotiv 2

Today was Thanksgiving Day for Americans like me and after a big turkey dinner with friends, I headed to Cherkizovo to see if I indeed had something to be thankful for. Unfortunately, a series of defensive errors led to a 4-2 defeat against Sporting as we again failed to seal qualification from the group. We'll have to sweat out what will be a nervy matchday 6 in Albania.

A decent crowd of 12,000 braved the cold, Moscow evening. Loko was without the suspended Corluka and Mykhalyk filled in. Also, Maicon played for the still not 100% Kasaev and Fernandes gave Kolomeytsev a rest. Sporting named a weakened lineup (not evident from the result) as Rui Patricio was suspended and Carvalho didn't fly to Russia. Main scoring threat Slimeni started on the bench.

The Railwaymen got off to the best of starts in the 5th minute. A N'Dinga pass found a clear Maicon who caught the Sporting defense sleeping and slotted past Boeck for the 1-0 lead. But that was virtually the end of our highlights in the 1st half as Loko allowed Sporting to camp out in their half and paid for it dearly. In the 20th minute, an unmarked Montero scored from a cross, then in the 38th minute Ruiz scored on a nifty give-and-go with Montero. Minutes later, an offsides Gelson Martins struck again for the guests and the flag stayed down. Despite that, Sporting's 3-1 halftime lead was justified.

Loko started off the 2nd half better and had two clear opportunities to score, but Maicon hit the post and Fernandes was too strong on a centering pass. Despite our pressure, it was Sporting who would add to their lead when Pereira was played clear of our comatose defenders and Guilherme let a ball go between his legs for a goal for the 3rd time of the day. That was that. Miranchuk added a consolation goal four minutes before the end as he beautifully controlled a high looping cross to the box with his chest before slamming in into the goal. But it was too little, too late as Loko fell 4-2.

Loko's run of worrying form continued today, but surprisingly we were so good early in the season that it's not a disaster yet. We still control our own fate in Group H and 1 point against Skenderbeu in Albania in two weeks would guarantee our qualification unless Besiktas loses to Sporting 4-3 or 5-4, a highly unlikely outcome. A Besiktas win over Sporting would see us through as well. We also still have a pretty good shot at winning the group which will happen if we beat Skenderbeu and Besiktas fails to defeat Sporting in Lisbon. There's three more matches to play in 2015 and they're all winnable. Time to finish strong.

Also, I went to the Anzhi match but got sick directly after and I didn't write a report. But I wanted to congratulate Loko fans for not making racist chants against Anzhi and their supporters. It made the atmosphere much nicer and it was greatly appreciated by me.

Igor Cherevchenko: "We completely failed the first half".

Cherevchenko: fallito completamente la prima volta

Igor Cherevchenko in the post-game press-conference spoke about the game against Sporting (2:4), resuming it.

- We completely failed the first half. Sporting defeated us not only in the defense, but also in the midfield.

- Firstly the defeat against Anzhi and now this one, is there a crisis?
- No. Now we're going the prepare the match vs Dinamo. Our run in the Europa League has became harder because three teams could qualify to the next round.

- Could the trip on metro have influenced the game?
- No. We could find many excuses, but we can't lose at home.

- Guilherme suffered three goals between the legs...
- Guilherme is a very strong goalkeeper. These are the Sporting players' skills.

- Why did Aleksey Miranchuk enter on the pitch so late?
- It was a decision of the technical staff. To judge each player we need to rewatch the game many times.

- Were you surprised by how Sporting played after the victory in Portugal?
- We have always known that Sporting is a very strong team. It's not a case that they lead the Primeira Liga's table. They're a fast and technical squad. They deserved to win.

Lokomotiv - Sporting 2:4.

Ha dato modo di "Sporting"

Lokomotiv was defeated by Sporting in the fifth round of the Europa League's group stage.

This game represented a good opportunity for Lokomotiv to qualify for the next round. In fact, just one point would have guaranteed 'Railroaders' the qualification.

Despite reaching the stadium on metro due the high probability of a traffic jam, Lokomotiv took immediately the lead. N'Dinga won a couple of contrasts in the midfield that sent Maicon in a one-on-one against Marcelo, who was beaten by the Brazilian striker.

Sporting answered with Montero, who took advantage from a Denisov's deviation on a Esgaio's cross.

A few minutes later, the 'Lions' found also the second goal with Ruiz. Five minute later, Gelson Martins scored the third one in offside.

After the break, Lokomotiv could have reopened the game, but Maicon hit the bar.

As a consequence, Matheus Pereira managed to scored the fourth times for Sporting. The only Aleksey Miranchuk tried to sweeten the score with his goal.

Lokomotiv suffered the first defeat of the season in the Europa League. The next match against Skenderbeu will be now crucial for the qualification.

The moment of truth. Lokomotiv is going to face Sporting in a game that will bring clarity in the Europa League's group H.

Former Benfica midfielder, now in Lokomotiv, Manuel Fernandes has recently commented the upcoming match for the Portuguese media: "Sporting is stronger than Lokomotiv. If we manage again to score them three goals, it'd be perfect. Sporting leads the Primeira Liga table, so we must face them seriously. Personally speaking, I really appreciate how Bryan Ruiz plays. William Carvalho is also good.

Lokomotiv? Our fans won't influence the match. I'm not happy because of the little playing time. I think I deserve to play more. This could be one of the reasons to leave Lokomotiv."

Despite the heavy words, Cherevchenko should include Fernandes in the starting-line up as well as Guilherme, who will make his debut as a Russian player. Corluka is still disqualified, so Shishkin should take his place with Yanbaev right back. Kolomeytsev could be finally given some rest: N'Dinga is ready to replace him. Kasaev is still not at 100% and so Maicon should be confirmed left winger. Niasse should be preferred over Skuletic.

As reported by Russian journalist Julia Yakovleva, Adrien should start on the bench. Mane, instead, had got an argument with Jorge Jesus as well as Carrillo and so he stayed in Lisbon. Joao Mario, Adrien, Ruiz and Slimani played 120 minutes against Benfica on Saturday and unlikely they will start tomorrow. Although Japanese striker Tanaka could leave Sporting this winter, JJ could trust the same in him. Rui Patricio is disqualified as he was sent off in the game against Skenderbeu. At the same time, the defender Jefferson, the midfielders William Carvalho and Bruno Paulista, the strikers Carlos Mane and Teo Gutierrez haven't flown to Moscow too. Jesus can't rely also on former Anzhi centre-back Ewerton, who got injured in the last match vs Benfica.

During the last games, Sporting has always provided solid performance, keeping the first place in the Primeira Liga and eliminating Benfica in the Taca de Portugal. The problem was the sensational defeat suffered in Albania against Skenderbeu that put in doubt their run in the Europa League. The game in Moscow represents the last opportunity to hope in a qualification and to take a revenge from the defeat in the first leg. Lokomotiv, instead, needs at least a point to ensure the qualification and therefore should prepare a match based on counterattacks.

Everything will depend by how Lokomotiv's players approach the match. Another defeat could be hard to accept.
